Formalin

Formalin is an aqueous solution of formaldehyde (methanal) stabilized with methanol.

It is widely used: in the paper industry to improve the strength and quality of paper; in the tannery - for tanning leather; in the textile industry - to increase the resistance of products to crushing and shrinkage; in agriculture - for the treatment of seeds and root crops, disinfection of soil and livestock buildings; in medicine - as a disinfectant. Packing - railway and road tankers with aluminum or stainless steel boilers, polyethylene bottles, cans; aluminum, stainless or steel barrels with anti-corrosion coating with a capacity of up to 200 dm³.
